NEWS Resurgence Theatre’s children’s gala Sunday A gala, just for children. The first ever Children’s Gala, a charitable event for the Resurgence Theatre Company is a great opportunity to involve youth in local culture, Resurgence board member Theresa Taylor says. The theatre group was brainstorming, trying to come up with creative ideas on how to raise funds for Resurgence and the children’s gala came to her in a dream. "I brought the idea I had dreamed of in front of the board members and it was a hit," she said. One ticket gets two adults and two children an invitation from a prince to attend the gala luncheon, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Fairy Lake and a seat in the performance tent for the gala production of The Little Prince at 2 p.m. "It is a story most adults know and can relate to," Ms Taylor says. "Being able to share that with their children is priceless and it sparks everyone’s imagination." Children will also be able to participate in a host of activities throughout the event such as having their faces painted, bursting a balloon for a prize and sifting through goodie bags provided by the organizers. The event will take place rain or shine in the tent, which can accommodate 120 people for the performance. Tickets are $150 for entrance of two adults and two children under the age of 12. © 2009 York Region Media Group. All rights reserved. | ||
