The story begins as a pilot is forced to crash land in the Sahara Desert. While he tries to fix his plane he meets the Little Prince, a child who claims to be from another planet, Asteroid B-612. The two become friends as the Little Prince entertains the pilot with stories of why he had to leave his home, and all the curious characters he has met on his interplanetary journey to the Earth.

The story is one of the extraordinary power of the imagination and the indestructible bond of friendship - two reasons why it continues to be cherished by children and adults alike 65 years after it was first published.
