On midsummer night’s eve a boy falls asleep wondering whether he will be abandoned when his mother re-marries the next day. In his sleep he dreams a dream where a conflict between the rulers of the heavens set in motion a tangle of love triangles.

Does the pillow dream the sleeper? Do the dreamed dream the dreamer?

Talley's Folly is the winner of the 1980 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award.

Amidst the political uncertainty of WWII and a country still ravaged by the Great Depression, 42 year-old German-Jewish accountant Matt Friedman and 31 year-old southern belle Sally Talley struggle to carve out a piece of happiness together in a boat house on the banks of a river.
